The Office of the Treasurer for Anaconda Deer-Lodge County is responsible to receive all money belonging to the county and all other money directed to be paid to him/her by law, keep the money safe, apply the money and pay it out, and render an accounting for it as required by law. Keep an account of the receipt and expenditures of all money in books provided for the purpose in which it must be entered:

(i) The amount, the time when, from whom, and on what account all money was received;
(ii) The amount, the time when, from whom, and on what account all disbursements were made;

Also, must keep the books in a way that clearly shows that the amounts received and paid out on account of separate funds or specific appropriations are exhibited in separate and distinct accounts, with the whole receipts and expenditures shown in one general or cash account. And must disburse the county money only on county warrants issued by the county clerk, based on orders of the board of county commissioners, or as otherwise provided by law.

The designated county treasurer must receive, disburse, and serve as the custodian of all public money. Provide for accountability of all local cash receipts, and for deposits and investments of all departments, offices, and boards. Pay out, in the order registered, all warrants, presented for payment when there are funds in the treasury to pay the warrants. And require periodic departmental reports of money receipts and their disposition on forms the county treasurer prescribes.
